My mind is spinning with carnival party ideas. My daughter’s graduation party is going to be a Vintage Carnival. We are both so excited to be throwing such a fun party for our family and friends. I don’t know what I’m going to love more, the yummy carnival themed food we are planning or the games. Either way a carnival party is so much fun because there is never a dull moment. The colors are vibrant, the atmosphere lends itself to your guests interacting and overall it’s just a great day filled with joy and laughter. Thinking of throwing one yourself? Here are some ideas you may want to use as inspiration.
Start with a fun invitation that says “your invited to a carnival” The style of your invitation always sets the tone as to what your party guests are to expect at the party. Invite Via
Make the décor fun and festive. Incorporate stripes. Stripes don’t only have to be present in a tent, but try using stripes in your table linens as well. You can see if your local tent rental or a company in your area has something for rent. You can also buy a carnival decorating kit that has all the pieces you need to help you decorate in one easy step. Find the Carnival Decorating kit here.
Candy and carnival treats should definitely be party of the day. Colorful swirly lollipops, popcorn and snowcones are fun food touches to offer to your guests. I know my local party rental company has lots of concession type machines for rent such as a popcorn cart, ice cream cone cart and even a cotton candy machine. A great cake with a carnival theme will certainly be the talk of your guests. Make it colorful, bold and fun. Cake via
Have games! They are one of the best parts of going to a carnival. Having tickets available to hand out for playing the games gives the day an authentic feel of being at a real carnival. Guests can be handed a set amount of tickets as they enter the party to use as they wish. Set a predetermined amount of tickets that will be used for each game and ensure each guest gets their fair amount. Tickets can be found at most party stores. Balloon game pic via.
Party favors could be in keeping with the theme. Consider filling little polka dot boxes with sweet treats or handing out a box of the ever famous Barnum’s Animal Crackers. Get the boxes here.
Well hope this has made you want to throw a carnival party of your own.

for an additional fun touch to a carnival themed party how about festive funnel cakes instead of the traditional birthday cake. Very few party supply places offer them, but what says carnival better than a funnel cake? They can be made a little in advance and stored in heat saving bags, or they could easily be made during the party with the person making them adding all kinds of toppings including sprinkles if the birthday kids want. They are relatively easy to make and don’t require a major investment unless you are doing them professionally at a fair or festival. I’d be happy to write a post about how people can do this. have fun at the party, Max
