Vintage Train Inspired Birthday Party

When I have  a chance to show party ideas for little boys, it makes me very happy as I sometimes see some many sweet ideas for little girls, I often wonder where moms of little boys get their inspiration from. Today, it’s a pleasure to share with you a vintage train birthday party idea I found on one of my favorite spots Cake Inc. I love how simple yet sweet the designs are that are created by the duo Janelle of Cupcakes by Janelle and Samone of Red Letter Studio. Their collaborative efforts are a bit of whimsy combined with modern chicness. A combination just perfect for celebrating in style. The color combination of this party is still one of my favorite trends right now.  The cool color of the blue really help to balance the warm color of red seamlessly. You will see how we combined this pale blue  and red in our upcoming Big Red Barn party. Can’t wait to share.

DESIGN TIP: When using colors, its a smart idea not to over due the use of colors. Focus on your two main colors…in this party, its blue and red and when introducing a 3rd accent color use it sparingly. Remember, the 3rd color is meant to be an accent and not a key color in your overall design. With this blue and red, a nice accent color would have been a soft yellow.

The train details are just what the Dr. ordered. LOVING the conductor hat and wood train.  A great place to find cute conductor hats is on Amazon and a really nice source for various wood trains can be found at Wooden Train. Don’t forget your local craft stores or school/teacher supply stores are great sources for train inspired props/decor as well.

Doesn’t the birthday boy look so adorable in his train conductor outfit. Coloring pages are a wonderful activity at a kids party. We have one designed to go with our Big Red Barn party.

The cake train topper is awesome. Love it! Great details.

How cute are the candy bar wrappers. They say “admit one” like a real train ticket.

What a well thought out party. Great job!
