I have been looking for some new flower tutorials on how to create some paper flowers, when I found this one over at Maya Made, I made them and they were really easy to do. My shredder scissors is now one of my favorite toys, I am gonna see what else I can shred with them. Here are the steps to making these DIY Recycled Paper flowers…wouldn’t they look darling as cupcake toppers or strung together as a garland at a wedding or party!
WHAT YOU NEED:
- assorted paper (lightweight and tissue work the best)
- shredder scissors (you can find these at your local craft store such as Michal’s & Jo-Ann’s)
- stapler
Step 1: Fold paper: tissue paper should be folded over a couple of times, maps and thicker paper fold in half
Cut along the folded side for tissue and the open side for thicker paper, but experimenting is what makes this fun, so try it a couple of different ways. Just remember to insert the paper as far back into the scissors as possible.
Step 2: Roll from one end to another.
Step 3: Staple the bottom.

I SOOO love this tutorial! Great one that anyone can use, whether they’re getting married or not. Haha, I didn’t even know there was such a thing as “shredder scissors,” either!

Paper flowers seem to be making an appearance at more and more weddings of late. I love that these are made from recycled paper though, making them even more eco friendly and free!
